Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II will be part of a team which is responsible for research, design, and implementation of iso-geometric analysis (IGA) pre-processing functionality in support of the LS-DYNA solver. This role requires an analytical and curious mind with strong interest in IGA, spline-technology, mesh generation, computational geometry and numerical methods. The primary job responsibilities will be to contribute to the development of spline technology and supporting functionality allowing for the efficient creation of surface and solid IGA models allowing for solution of complex industrial problems. The successful candidate can expect to be engaged in all stages of code and capability planning, research, creation and evolution of the IGA functionality, and to work closely with other members of the meshing software development team.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in engineering, Computer Graphics, Computational Geometry or Mathematics, with 2 years’ experience, or MS

  • Expertise in IGA spline technology or related field.

  • Working knowledge of software development 

  • Knowledge with Python and C/ C++ 


Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Solid understanding of geometry processing

  • Interest in mesh generation

  • Interest in advancing computer aided engineering and analysis

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to overcome obstacles 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies
