Job summary

Advanced level professional providing professional input to complex assignments/projects and providing direction to more junior professionals; works autonomously, only requiring “expert” level technical support from others; exercises judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures; uses in-depth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends, within own discipline area.  May be involved with projects that span multiple physics/products.  May be responsible for line management of a small technical team but primary duties are of an individual technical nature. 

Emphasis is on the on-going work to bring the AUTODYN and LS-DYNA software together.

Individuals at this level are expected to show competence in their activities and a strong desire to learn new areas on the job in an open, multi-disciplinary, co-located team environment.


Essential functions

  • Research, design, and implement features in a state-of-the-art Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software application based on the Particle, Finite Element Method and Finite Volume numerical methods.
  • Maintain and enhance core physics algorithms within ANSYS Mechanical Explicit Transient Dynamics solutions
  • Development and enhancement of interfaces between application components and core physics solvers (implicit-explicit, explicit-explicit, explicit-implicit)
  • Formulate tests and documentation
  • Identify and implement effective practices and process for accomplishing work
  • Engage a network of expert professionals to collaborate and accomplish development objectives
  • Strong desire to learn new areas on the job in an open, multi-disciplinary, co-located team environment.
  • Other job-related duties as may be assigned by management from time to time


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related field or the equivalent level of knowledge and skill through on-the-job experience and training
  • Experience of, or PhD in, the development of Particle, Finite Element/Volume or related numerical methods using Fortran, C or C++, Python
  • Strong knowledge of numerical simulation methodologies including FEA or CFD computational technique
  • Experience in using Microsoft Visual Studio and software configuration management tools (e.g. GIT)
  • Experience in the use or development of distributed parallel algorithms for high-performance computing is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of Linux environment is advantageous.
  • Local language and English skills.
