Summary / Role Purpose  

Join the Ansys Student Internship Program to apply your education to solve real world engineering problems, advance career skills and experience work at Ansys. You will be part of the solver development team in the Ansys Mechanical Business Unit where you will help develop robust solvers and test their scalability on a cloud computing platform. You will have the opportunity to apply the latest C++ and GPU programming standards and interact with Ansys global leaders. The internship will run for 3 months during the summer college semester.  

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Test the robustness and scalability of the solver across different platforms including GPU and ARM-based CPUs 

  • Use code profiling tools to evaluate code metrics and identify bottle necks 

  • Analyze, develop and update the source code for efficient parallelization, and memory use 

  • Develop and document validation test cases 

  • Generate simulation benchmark and scaling data for large models 

  • Coordinate with Cloud Dev-Ops, Customer Success and Solver Development teams 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • Required Education and Degree Type: Pursuing Masters or PhD program in Engineering, Physics or Computer Science.  

  • Experience with C++ programming in Scientific or Engineering applications 

  • Knowledge of parallel programming and computer architecture 

  • Knowledge of Finite Element Method 

  • Knowledge of linear solvers for solving sparse matrices 

  • Ability to learn quickly, understand complex systems and to work closely with others 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Experience with engineering simulation tools 

  • Software development experience including build, test and deployment 

  • Software performance optimization experience in the HPC context (GPU acceleration, MPI load balancing, vectorization, multithreading)
