Summary / Role Purpose

The Cloud & HPC Senior Application Engineer works on all the ACE activities related to Cloud and HPC solutions proposed by Ansys. S/he has a key role in provide expertise to customers on how to best utilize the different Cloud solutions.

 

Examples of key activities are : demo Cloud solutions to customer, assist customers with the implementation of Cloud solutions, provide technical assistance to the users, advise on the best solution to fulfill customer’s needs.

 

The Cloud & HPC Senior Application Engineer can work for any customer no matter the region or the customer segment (GTM).

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the interface to DevOps (BU & ACE)
  • Execute IT & Cloud related technical activities to enable customers with Cloud solutions
  • Develop tools and methods to the ACE team to deliver on their responsibilities
  • Review recurring customer technical issues / system issues and advise on product improvements
  • Review / monitor performance of the solutions / systems
  • Assist the ACE teams on recommend tools & best practices
  • Perform a Cloud technology watch to keep accurate knowledge and skills on Cloud
  • Coach / Train ACE team on new technology
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of technical issues with customers (SRs, Forum, …)
  • Help publish recommendations / best practices for customers (FAQ, Forum)
  • Contribute to technical meetings when needed
  • Help prepare the team for future products

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Cloud, High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineering or a related field of study.
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+5, MS+3, or PhD+0
  • Proven experience with work on one or multiple Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, …)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English 
  • Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
  • Demonstrated experienced in driving customer business development
  • Creative and innovative mindset on how to analyze a situation and take actions
  • Excellent communication skills with capacity to adapt to the audience (from C level to Analyst)

 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering SW environment: BS+8, MS+6 or PhD+3
  • 4 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services type customer facing roles using engineering software
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives 
  • 2 years of experience with Cloud technology and offering
