Summary / Role Purpose

The Senior R&D Engineer contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and advance the state of the art in engineering simulation user experience. The successful candidate will have knowledge of technical/scientific computing concepts and will design, implement, and maintain next-generation simulation engines.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and solvers based on FEM and Integral Equation techniques.
  • Understands and employs best practices
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • MS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other natural science disciplines with 2 years’ experience or PhD.
  • Working experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects
  • Good understanding and skills in object-oriented programming
  • Working experience with electrical modeling and simulation, specifically with numerical methods

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with C++ or Python
  • Technical knowledge and experience with power and signal integrity concepts and circuit theory.
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
