As an R&D Engineer at Ansys you will contribute to software applications that meet high standards for accuracy, user experience and performance, and run on the latest desktop, enterprise, cloud and HPC computing systems.  

 

In this role you will join a cross-functional squad to code, test and maintain both new and mature products, following agile practices.  You will be supervised by an R&D Manager, collaborate with both the ACE support team and quality assurance specialists, and check in daily with Senior R&D Engineers. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with your squad to understand detailed requirements and specifications, and how the customer will use the product
  • Collaborate with Senior R&D Engineers to produce efficient, maintainable and modular production code for scientific algorithms and user interfaces
  • Deliver completed software components within our agile process, ensuring your R&D Manager and colleagues are kept up to date on problems, obstacles or issues that may impair the ability to meet standards or timelines
  • Actively participate in design review, code review and pull requests, giving feedback to peers
  • Ensure code is sufficiently tested and features adequately documented by working with quality assurance specialists.  Unit or acceptances tests have been created where appropriate.
  • Respond promptly to moderate or high severity defect reports; and
  • Remain current with best-of-breed software design tools and practices.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering 
  • Able to be productive from home as needed and build good working relationships with peers
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and programming
  • 2+ years' experience developing with C++ in a commercial setting
  • Ability to develop cross-platform on Windows and Linux
  • Values and demonstrates personal growth
  • Excellent problem solving and analytic ability; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Qt, Git
  • Experience using CAD applications
  • Personal interest in electrical engineering, optics or physics
