The Senior Application Engineer (Senior AE) is responsible for leveraging expert-level engineering knowledge and relationships to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue. This person will become an expert in applying the software of AGI, an Ansys company, for addressing some of the most challenging aerospace and defense problems. The Senior AE operates as part a dynamic team of engineers, software developers and business professionals who assist our customers in performing analyses, solving problems, and integrating and deploying custom software solutions. This role provides technical pre-sales support throughout the entire sales process.

 

We are seeking candidates with a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the aerospace and defense community and who have the technical and interpersonal skills required to do so in our fast-paced work environment. This particular Senior AE will work with our customers based out of selected regions in EMEA. This is largely a remote position and thus the successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, goal oriented, capable of self-direction, a good communicator, able to multi-task and effectively work with a team. This is a customer-facing role and the successful candidate will be comfortable interacting directly with customers and speaking in front of groups. The Senior AE will travel extensively while working with government and industry customers in conjunction with our partners throughout the selected region to understand their program requirements, identify problems, and propose innovative solutions utilizing AGI, an Ansys company, software.

 

The Senior AE will be critical to the long-term success for the International team, providing subject matter expertise for the customers in the region while also training and mentoring other engineers and business partners in the region. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop product expertise across the AGI technology ecosystem
  • Educate, train, and support Ansys’ regional teams on how to sell and support AGI software
  • Lead in coordination and execution of all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity such as customer meetings and product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations 
  • Work independently to analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of customers’ current infrastructure, operations, and engineering workflows
  • Create and demonstrate simulation solutions to streamline customer workflows in support of the software sales process; sales cycle/process will be broad and complex in nature
  • Participate in internal corporate initiatives to further enhance the solution suites, presales/sales enablement, and professional growth; actively participate in the development and mentoring of team members
  • Program user interfaces, automation scripts and integration code in support of customers’ applications
  • Deliver product training
  • Formulate strategies for technical solutions
  • Communicate customer technical requirements and industry technical trends to AGI software product development

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with 3+ years’ work experience in astrospace and aerospace sciences is desirable
    • Will consider Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years’ prior work experience in the aerospace industry
  • Scripting Experience in MATLAB, Python or other scripting languages
  • Programming experience in C# or Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English
  • Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer
  • Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions
  • Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Able and willing to travel extensively
  • European citizenship
  • Eligible to apply for security clearance in the UK

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree and 3 years’ experience or PhD and 1 year experience in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Working experience with STK and ODTK
  • Active security clearances
