Summary / Role Purpose  

Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead, solve their real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys’ business.  

 

The Ansys Agile Coach is a key role in effective delivery of internal and external Ansys activities, programs and products or solutions. The Agile Coach will guide the solution development teams, stakeholders and customers through the practices of agility. The Agile Coach responsibilities includes guiding the teams through their daily activities, from start of the projects to the end, helping Product Owners, Stakeholders and Solution Developers understanding their role, coaching and educating them on agility in an ever-changing requirements world and facilitate the setup of metrics to help fact-based decisions. He/She is expected to contribute to our Agile Community of Practice. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Champions agile methodologies, teaches, coaches and mentors software & application engineers whenever necessary to build trust within a team and across teams. 

  • Maintains daily close and warm relationships by being embedded within teams and being a champion of their morale and happiness. 

  • Works with Product Owners and Stakeholders to provide visibility on team results and performance, negotiate workload and groom backlogs. 

  • Facilitates Agile team planning meetings, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives for multiple agile teams. 

  • Identifies bottlenecks by looking at the big picture and the interconnections between teams and executes on ideas to improve big picture performance (Scrum of Scrums, missing tools, impediments etc.). 

  • Interacts with teams of contractors or other companies that may not be familiar with Agile and finds efficient ways to integrate them into our software process. 

  • Collects data on team activities and integrates tools and pipelines to expose KPIs  

  • Help leaders make their teamwork visible to other teams to improve teams alignment. 

  • Teaches to a wider audience through specific internal agile programs and by being an active member of the Agile Community of Practice 

  • Learns constantly and involves himself in Agile Communities outside Ansys. 

  • As a Lead Agile Coach, coaches and mentors other Agile Coaches and help implementing agility to wider, more complex systems. 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Engineering or Computer Science 

  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3 

  • Agile Coach certifications from Scrum.org, Scrum Alliance, ICP or Management 3.0 and advanced levels for Lead Agile Guide (PSM 2 and above and equivalent certifications). 

  • Calm under pressure and protects software teams from unreasonable requests and loss of focus. 

  • Has the ability to measure, identify and fix bottlenecks and impediments within teams and across teams by coaching teams and leveraging software. 

  • Knowledge of several agile scaling frameworks. 

  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed 

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+12, MS+10, or PhD+7 

  • 4-years’ experience in similar position 

  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives 

  • Experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, Pipeline, Process) 

  • Experience with Kanban System Design 

  • Experience participating regularly in outside communities is a plus, particularly as a lead Agile Coach
