Summary and Role Purpose

The EMEA PR Specialist is responsible for the planning, management, and execution of strategic media engagements in Europe, primarily in the UK, France and DACH. The candidate will manage and guide external PR agencies on all day-to-day media relations activities. He/She/They will work with agencies to develop and localize content for media with the goal of enhancing the company’s visibility in the marketplace. He/She/They will also be responsible for coverage tracking/metrics. This position is integral to the PR team and the candidate will work closely with external PR agencies and internal teams at Ansys to elevate the company’s visibility and brand awareness.


Key Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Manage external EMEA PR agencies in (currently in London, Paris and Munich); and all day-to-day media relations activities
  • Oversee strong external and internal PR resources to secure placement within relevant media outlets that will expand the company’s visibility in the marketplace and to the financial community
  • Own the PR strategy for Europe and – with the PR agencies - drive editorial story planning, writing and pitching to both local, national and international press (trade and general business), including all necessary reporter follow-up efforts (fact-finding, quote development/approval, executive interview coordination, etc.) to maximize media attention and build brand awareness in support of overall goals
  • Build strong working relationships internal stakeholders, spokespeople, local executives, Field Marketing, Application Engineers/Customer Support and Sales Teams to promote an integrated communications approach across Europe
  • Implement media trainings for EMEA spokespeople
  • Monitor industry issues and competitive landscape to adjust positioning and messaging as needed
  • Track coverage and metrics, maintain placement trackers, reports, etc.
  • Work on various marketing projects from inception through to completion, spanning cross-functional groups

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or Writing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a media or PR professional preferred
  • Experience managing a PR agency team preferred
  • Prior PR agency experience preferred
  • Fluent in English
  • Conversational in German and/or French is preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Team player with a positive, can do attitude
  • Prior experience working in a technical business setting with engineers or in engineering simulation preferred; public company experience preferred; B2B software experience a plus
  • Prior experience working with PR software (PR Newswire) preferred
  • Previous experience managing other professionals preferred
