Summary / Role Purpose

The Technical Support Engineer II is responsible for software deployment support to ANSYS customers and employees.  The Technical Support Engineer will troubleshoot and resolve deployment and usage problems of ANSYS software products on various platforms on customer premises, in the ANSYS Enterprise Cloud and in 3rd -party managed cloud environments.  Support channels include phone, web portal, web collaboration tools as well as occasional site visits.  The Technical Support Engineer will also help improve product quality and improve the product deployment process.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and expert support to ANSYS customers and staff in troubleshooting hardware and software problems related to networks, graphics, file systems and HPC systems that impact the installation, launching and performance of ANSYS software products.
  • Provide consulting services to customer engineering and IT departments to design and deploy enterprise-wide simulation on customer site, ANSYS Enterprise Cloud and 3rd-party cloud facilities.
  • Collaborate with ANSYS product creation teams to improve product quality and streamline the deployment process.
  • Continuously expand and enhance customer-facing resources such as Solutions, tutorials and best practice guides.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Strong customer service attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field plus 3 years of relevant job experience
  • Experience with supporting Windows-based computer systems
  • Familiarity with concepts that impact software deployment, such as TCP/IP, DNS, Ethernet, Virtualization, Security and Network Administration
  • Familiarity with license-controlled software concepts and tools such as FLEXlm
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, Javascript, .NET, C#, HTML 5, JSON, Powershell

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • High Performance Computing topics such as high-speed interconnects, Cloud Portals, Cluster Job Management software, MPI & Remote visualization
  • Experience with Linux-based computer systems
  • CRM tools and processes
  • Active Directory/LDAP
  • Deploying & Administering an HPC system using Cluster Job Management Systems such as Grid Engine, LSF or PBS
  • Cloud Based environments such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Windows Azure using tools relevant to those environments (such as CloudFormation, Chef or Puppet for AWS)
  • Deployment and administration of the ANSYS family of Products
