ANSYS Japan is looking for a junior lawyer who will assist Legal Counsel with contract review, administrative work, and any other legal work assigned. This is a permanent position. An ideal candidate is (a) a qualified/licensed lawyer or (b) if not a licensed lawyer, at least two years of experience having worked at multinational corporations fluent both in English and Japanese. This person will report to both Ansys’ Japan and Korea Counsels and work on contract review, other legal support, and administrative work for the two countries. This hiring is on a rolling basis. Contract Review and Other Legal Work Support

- Review license forms with pre-approved or legal approved language

- Review customer's Non-Disclosure Agreements

- New policy translation from English to Japanese and review thereof

- Customer's vendor code/business transaction account paperwork

- Review letters and other forms

- Provide necessary trainings to employees

- Support any other legal work assigned by Legal Counsels

 

Administrative Work

- Legal operation work such as streamlining work processes, managing Legal Sharepoint site, etc.

- Contracts scan/register/filing

- Postal or express courier shipping arrangement

- Affix/manage corporate seals  

- Any other admin work to support contract management and/or corporate work

Requirements

  • A native Japanese speaker or having comparable Japanese proficiency
  • Excellent written English and Japanese; professional level of spoken English
  • Good knowledge of Japanese law
  • Juris Doctor or equivalent in any jurisdiction
  • (if not a licensed lawyer) 2 years of legal work experience, with applicable paralegal or legal affairs experience
  • Proficient in legal research computer-based tools
  •  

 

 

Preferred (but not required)

  • Admission to Bar in any jurisdiction
  • Good knowledge of American law in case the candidate is a Japanese lawyer
  • Some knowledge of Korean law
  • Korean proficiency
