Application Engineer — Optics

 

Role and responsibilities

 

Application Engineers are to deliver pre and post sales services and consulting for ANSYS. These products include ANSYS SPEOS and VRXPERIENCE, solutions enabling our customers to experience the product exactly as the consumer will, in a fully immersive 3D virtual environment.

 

The major responsibilities of this role will involve:

 

  • Supporting our sales team through the delivery of technical presentations
  • Training our customers to our products and solutions
  • Delivering 1st level support
  • Managing and delivering professional consultancy services using our Solutions
  • Undertaking pilot studies on or off site to prove the benefits of ANSYS Solutions to customers
  • Contribute actively to ANSYS product and solution improvement at the local and global levels.

 

 

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and customer oriented, with a proven track record in Optical or technical consultancy, training, and support of software, ideally within the automotive sector.

The candidate must be able to adapt quickly to new environments and must have sufficient working knowledge to be able to solve problems and communicate solutions with customers at a technical level.

 

The position will be based in Tokyo and will involve a significant amount of travel to support customers across Japan. Candidates willing to work from Nagoia can also be considered.

 

Skills and Experience

 

Suitable candidates will have the following skills and experiences:

 

  • An Engineering degree in either Mechanical, Physics, Automotive or Aerospace disciplines;
  • A thorough working knowledge of Optical theory, and ideally knowledge of SPEOS
  • Working knowledge of common CAD/PDM environments (Space Claim, CATIA, NX, etc.)
  • A positive customer-facing attitude, able to solve problems and instruct others on the solution;
  • A confident speaker able to give clear technical presentations including software demonstrations;
  • Experience in the preparation, organisation and delivery of short training courses;

Applicant must have working proficiency in English (both written and spoken) and could be required to travel from time to time to some of our other sites (mainly in Europe and Asia).
