SUMMARY

 

The Engineering Team Leader (TL) provides guidance and leadership for a team of field application engineers within the “P” Discipline for a set of applications to help customers derive maximum value from their investment in ANSYS.

 

This Leader is a respected partner for our Technical Account & Program Management teams and Sales Teams. Driven by the guidance of our Technical Account Managers and Channel/Momentum managers, the TL is developing the capabilities and expertise to deliver on sales initiatives, projects and campaigns, being responsible for the successful staffing and resourcing as well as the successful execution and delivery. The TL is a technical referent on his expertise field, promoting “can-do” attitude in their team and focusing on customer’s success. They are responsible for a high motivation in their team, a healthy utilization of resources and a fair, consistent performance management in the team.

 

While responsible for their own team, the TL supports successful teamwork among peer groups within the P discipline and also across all EMEA Engineering Disciplines with various industry application focus, ie supporting Virtual “Mission Teams” developing new Solutions and delivering multi-disciplines workflows and design Platforms.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • The TL organizes activities (pre-sales/support/services etc.) for his/her group in collaboration with other groups.   
  • The TL builds and develops strong relationship with the technical account managers, program managers, support, training, channel partner and partner organization managers to ensure alignment of business priorities with engineering resources.
  • The TL leads by example and is an expert in one of the team’s technical domain, spending up to 40% of his/her time on technical activities.
  • The TL facilitates the empowerment, growth and development of the team members by:
    • Aligning strengths with responsibilities
    • Challenging and empowering team members to grow and branch out
    • Supporting training and education of team members.
    • Aligning the team with a DevOps & Agile mindset
  • The TL builds and develops strong relationship with product managers and R&D, sharing priorities from the Field and supporting the creation of new technical offerings.
  • The TL facilitates the collaboration within peers in his/her discipline as well as with other disciplines across EMEA to support multi-disciplinary solutions.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • BS in Applied Math, Computer Science, engineering or equivilent job experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience, including post-BS academic experience, in an Software Development, Engineering or IT environment as a Software Developer, DevOps or in IT Operations.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, .NET, C++
  • Experiencing using Windows and Linux Environments  
  • A minimum of 3 years manager-level or Senior Engineer level work experience
  • Thorough understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends and customer needs as regards delivering customer experiences in varying different deployment environments.   
  • Ability to manage multiple projects which are complex in nature and coordinate colleagues across diverse teams and locations
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business, development, partner organization and engineering/IT managers
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and coordination with personnel distributed across multiple global sites.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Deployment using relevant market tools such as GitHub, Puppet, Ansible, Docker, Azure DevOps or the Atlassian Suite.   

  • Experience with Cloud Based environments such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure

  • Proficiency in IT like scripting langguages such as Bash and Powershell

  • Knowledge in Agile frameworks – from being in an agile team to leading an agile transition in your company 

  • Good understanding of web architecture, distributed systems and web APIs, such as REST

  • Experience in Developer Relations (DevRel)
  • Awareness of commercial CAE, CAD, EDA software packages and thier use in Industry 
  • Fluent in English, plus at least one more European language like French or German.
