Summary 

The Business Unit FP&A manager will serve as the Finance partner for the business unit leadership teams, with accountability for the day-to-day financial management of designated business unit(s).

The individual will develop and implement a business unit operations review cadence. Perform detailed analysis and prepare briefing materials with concise analyses of variances to forecast, plan and prior period results.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Implement and deliver standard and ad hoc BU reporting including variance analysis and forecasting. Analyze financial results, distill/synthesize key trends, and optimize for scale and automation.
  • Manage the annual budget cycle, recurring forecast and the long-range financial plan for designated business unit(s).
  • Build financial models and design/track key operating metrics in support of strategic plans and internal decision-making for a variety of business initiatives.

Business Partnering

  • Work with business units to translate end-product needs into reports based on the requirements of the internal and/or external clients.
  • Serve as a trusted Finance advisor for designated business unit leader(s). Assess risks and opportunities versus annual company targets. Drive strategies to maximize financial opportunities and design initiatives to mitigate risk and close any gaps.
  • Be a visible, collaborative, accessible leader within the Finance organization. Partner with various stakeholders across ANSYS including Corp FP&A, Accounting, and IT to drive overall financial support for the organization.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a quantitative discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, especially for an R&D organization or other functions in a SaaS organization.
  • 1-2 years of people leadership and a desire to lead a team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in business analytics and tools
  • Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to present at the senior most level in the business
  • Strategic thinking, leadership and the ability to direct cross functional teams to completion of strategic financial objectives
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and recommended actions to all levels of the organization, using negotiation, persuasion, and discretion to accomplish objectives and deliver results
  • Ability to drive projects to completion in a complex, deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, able to engage and influence team and external partners; technical acumen to interpret business implications; excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Track record of recruiting, retaining, and developing top-shelf talent, including organization design and succession planning

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional qualification such as MBA, CPA, CMA, or CFA is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and systems experience such as Business Objects, Planning Systems (Hyperion) and Oracle Financials is highly desirable
