Summary / Role Purpose

The Linux Systems Administrator II configures, enhances, and supports IT infrastructure systems in support of ANSYS business. The role is responsible for the validation of basic business requirements and design approaches, basic and advanced system configuration on IT systems and environments and providing expertise to IT and the business units in a limited subject matter field. This role is able to work independently with moderate supervision and participate as a technology resource in larger projects.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs installation and maintenance of Linux Operating systems for clients and servers
  • Performs root-cause analysis: resolves Linux related issues, included in network, hardware and software issues
  • Routinely performs upgrades to the existing infrastructure systems
  • Works with the business unit teams to support & improve systems
  • Works as a global infrastructure team to collaborate working for some key projects.
  • Collaborates with other IT functions on complex business requirements, including integration points


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of Linux system administration experience
  • Detailed understanding of operating system concepts
  • Detailed understanding of distributed computing environment concepts
  • Experience installing and configuring Linux workstations and servers, especially Some major Linux distributions, Redhat, Suse, CentOS
  • Detailed understanding of some key Linux related technology and tools, NFS, NIS, File Systems (EXT4, XFS), init.d, systemd, X-Window systems, RPM, yum, zipper, iptables
  • Experience in automation tools like Ansible, AWX, & Ansible Tower
  • Understanding OSI 7 layered network concept
  • Ability to identify and remedy hardware and software failures
  • Experience in contract management for business system deployments.
  • User support experience, including onsite, remote support
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal, and understanding multi-country, region culture environment


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science preferred
  • Knowing the container technology, Cloud concepts, Infrastructure as a code idea is plus
  • Having basic level of Windows, VMware, EMC storage skill set is plus
  • Core Competencies include: Team Building, Planning, Negotiating, Drive for Results and Organization
  • The ANSYS Linux Infrastructure is one of core IT infrastructure system since the ANSYS application supports Linux is one of key Operating systems, so the system is distributed world-wide
