Summary / Role Purpose  

The Senior R&D Verification Engineer joins the Meshing Development Unit (MDU) to conduct software testing of Ansys applications such as Ansys Meshing in Workbench, Fluent-Meshing and test meshing capabilities for python ecosystem. This role uses advanced software skills to assess how well the product meets customer needs for functionality and usability and ensures that product requirements and quality standards are met. The Senior R&D Verification Engineer works closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical specialists on product issues.  

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Performs software product testing and investigates possible causes of problems according to the company's overall development and testing processes. 

  • Analyzes product requirements and creates test plan for new features 

  • Specifies and writes new test cases. Modifies and updates existing tests. Creates and maintains test scripts 

  • Performs functional, application, regression and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments 

  • Contributes to testing initiatives, responsible for coverage analysis and testing metrics in specific areas, participates in defect management 

  • Detects product defects and works with developers to determine the best resolution.  

  • Works in a variety of computing environments: Windows, Linux, VM’s, Compute Clusters, Cloud  

  • Maintains customer trust by testing products that represent the voice of the customer 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering and 5 years related experience or Master's degree with 3 years related experience  

  • Experience with various meshing technologies for implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis  

  • Strong knowledge of programming and scripting languages like Python  

  • Experience with software development processes and tools 

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems 

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering 

  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with meshing and solver products such as Workbench Meshing, Fluent-Meshing, Fluent, CFX, Ansys Mechanical, Ansys LS-Dyna, etc. is desirable 

  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial organization 

  • A thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to detail and genuine passion for quality assurance 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish good working relationships with development, testing, software quality assurance and support staff 

  • General skills in planning and problem solving 

  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed and dynamic team
