Summary / Role Purpose

The Meshing Development Unit (MDU) is seeking an experienced R&D engineer to expose meshing algorithms in various environments. This role requires an analytical mind with interest in assembling applications using various tools and technologies. Key responsibilities are to expose core meshing algorithms in multiple user interfaces that could include but are not limited to low level APIs, GUI, scripting languages like Python, cloud ready and remotable interfaces using tools like gRPC etc. This role requires experience in application design and development, design of scripting environment. Development of tools to test and demonstrate various workflows. This developer can expect to be engaged in all stages of code and capability planning, research, creation and evolution, and to work closely with other members of the meshing software development team. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and extend the code to enable users to use tools to generate large scale meshes with desired quality and type. 

  • Develop scripts to enable users to use the tools in a scriptable environment 

  • Develop GUI/Graphics to test and demonstrate these tools and workflows 

  • Work efficiently in complex mixed language code base, written in C/C++, on Windows and Linux. 

  • Participate in and collaborate with other development, documentation, and testing professionals in all phases of the software development life cycle. 

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Math. 

  • A minimum of 3 years commercial software development experience 

  • Experience in development of large scale applications or components  

  • Solid, demonstrable experience with C / C++ 

  • Experience in scripting languages like python would be a plus 

  • Experience in cloud technologies, GUI/Graphics etc would be a plus.

  • Keen interest in programming and algorithm development. 

  • Strong analytical skills. 

  • Ability to translate industrial needs into technology roadmaps and development plans 

  • Ability to overcome obstacles and drive projects to completion 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies, and to mentor junior developers
