Summary / Role Purpose

You will enhance our knowledge and skills base best practices as we deploy Microsoft technologies to create a dramatically more personal, integrated computing experience. The Microsoft Solutions Architect will be responsible for the analysis, design, and implementation of Microsoft solutions in a global enterprise environment. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate proficiency with the design, implementation and support of Microsoft technologies and possess strong project management and communication skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads strategy, best practices and architecture in the design, development and deployment of scalable and secure Microsoft solutions
  • Management of stakeholders, setting expectations on delivery and scope
  • Lead the implementation and execution of technology deployments in a DevOps environment
  • Manage the technology pipeline, aligning priorities and schedules with business expectations, resources and dependencies
  • Lead the integration and automation architecture for Ansys IT internal systems
  • Take ownership of issues, using sound judgement to propel issues to resolution
  • Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert on projects, overseeing the work of others and being accountable for the quality goals of the project
  • Work with peers and SMEs to create complete solutions designs
  • Offer reviews of activities in both operations and the business
  • Develop and communicate task level detail for project plans
  • Develop architectural standards, blueprints, building blocks and patterns
  • Prepare budgetary recommendations as needed
  • Mentor peers in proper vendor-certified techniques, methods, standards and processes
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
  • Own components of the technical relationship between Ansys and Microsoft, communicating changes in Microsoft product roadmaps, best practice and deployment patterns within Ansys.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, management disciplines, or related field
  • 8+ years of systems design experience
  • 10+ years of experience in technical roles; working with service based solutions, designing and working with enterprise implementations
  • Experience of integration and automation initiatives orchestrated around CMDB platforms, e.g. ServiceNow
  • Software development experience, especially within a DevOps/Agile environment
  • Candidates must have advanced understanding of the following: Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server products, DNS, DHCP, Powershell, Group Policy, Microsoft Azure cloud services, identity management, Azure SSO, server/client model, and life cycle management
  • Hands-on design and implementation planning for Microsoft solutions including integration, security, governance and compliance solutions in Azure and Office 365
  • Experience deploying and managing security technologies and conformance with regulatory and statutory frameworks
  • Adapt and learn quickly; keeping pace with the rapid changes in the IT industry particularly in productivity, collaboration, and cloud
  • Proven problem analysis and critical thinking skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in pressure situations
  • Thorough knowledge of project management techniques and success factors 
  • Demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills.  Able to manage the expectations of customers as well as influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience of creating high quality documentation and solution architecture artefacts


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Core competencies for this position also include effective time management, problem solving, customer focus, a drive for results, the ability to communicate effectively, teamwork and organization skills
  • Certifications of interest (not required, but preference given):
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
    • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
    • TOGAF 9
