SUMMARY

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for meeting/exceeding sales growth targets by developing and implementing multi-national, large global specific account plans.  Plans will include top-down strategic alignment with customers’ vision, strategy, and top annual priorities through groundswell global sales tactics.  SAM must understand and translate customer’s market environment, business priorities, and technical needs into an articulate Ansys solution.   SAM must be comfortable crafting a vision and gaining executive level sponsorship, developing and proposing compelling multi-year agreements, gaining purchasing commitment and managing the ongoing business relationship with the customers. SAM must be adept at leading a matrixed global team effort in a collaborative manner.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Sales excellence: 

  • Meet/exceed quota goals for assigned accounts.
  • Provide accurate forecasts. Maintain healthy pipeline to meet goals.
  • Lead contract negotiations and achieve a win for both sides

 

Drive long term partnerships:

  • Develop/expand customer C-Suite relationships to ensure vision, strategy, funding alignment.
  • Systematically exec peer match to ensure customer alignment and visibility.
  • Develop, maintain, implement account plans that contain strategies/tactical action plans.
  • Systematically build Ansys brand image around comprehensive simulation and platform solutions, economies of scale for investment, market, and technical leadership.
  • Define, track, measure, and report back business results of key projects.

 

Lead global sales effort:

  • Collaborate with global sales, AE, and other resources for high impact, coordinated approach.
  • Seek out/help customer define new opportunities/applications where ANSYS can be applied.

 

Continuously build knowledge to achieve competitive advantage:

  • Research, analyze, disseminate info about customers.
  • Understand biases and concerns of individual decision makers and key influencers.
  • Continuously gain depth and understanding of Ansys vision, mission, portfolio vs. competition.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or bachelor’s degree with technical sales experience
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience, at least 2 in senior/key account role
  • Proven track record of success
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of PLM or engineering simulation space
  • Excellent communication (including exec level) skills
  •  Organizational skills with track record of follow through
  •  Ability to work and lead collaboratively
  • Minimum travel of 50%

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Proficient in the following competencies: Building Trusting Relationships, Business and Financial Acumen, High Impact Communication, Marshaling Resources, Expanding and Advancing Opportunities, Devising Sales Approaches and Solutions, Initiating Action, Active Learning, Adaptability, Sustaining Customer Satisfaction, Sales Opportunity Analysis
  • 10 years field sales experience is preferable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ANSYS products/services, and pricing practices a plus
  • Knowledge of the specific accounts, industry a plus
  • Professional appearance and presentation
