As a Senior R&D Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the next generation modern UX for fluids simulation as part of our multi-physics simulation platform team. You will develop user interfaces and environments that share common tools, languages, and style with other Ansys components with an emphasis on Ansys CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) products. The user environment is engineered to facilitate collaboration among users, across multiple operating systems, with support for both desktop and cloud-based interaction. 



  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and product designers, and plan solutions to address those requirements 

  • Help define common UX guidelines that meet CFD customer needs. 

  • Keep yourself up to date on the latest technologies and architecture for user interface and user experience development.  Use that knowledge to help successfully deliver Ansys CFD capabilities in both desktop and web-based environments. 

  • Employ best practices and help to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.  Help other teams with technical and implementation details. 

  • Develop, debug, and proactively refactor a mixed language code base including Python and C/C++ on both Windows and Linux platforms 

  • Research and understand the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions. 

  • Provide mentoring of junior developers in your team and get involved directly in the planning and prioritization of features. 

  • Contribute to the software development lifecycle by planning and completing tasks within the team’s test-driven iterative/incremental, and broader agile practices. 



  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience 

  • In-depth experience developing applications with popular desktop UI toolkits such as Qt, WPF or .NET.  Development of applications using Web UI frameworks such as Angular or React may be considered strong candidates.  



  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with C++, Python and /or C#

  • Familiarity with, or willing to learn about, graphics development and 3d visualization 

  • Familiarity or willing to learn about CFD

  • Familiarity with development tools such as git and Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code. 

  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code and experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment 

  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain 

  • Ability to learn quickly, work collaboratively and effectively communicate in a geographically distributed team 

  • Motivated to lead others to find solutions to customer problems
