ANSYS, Inc. seeks Senior R&D Verification Engineer (multiple openings) to work in Lebanon, NH
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the software testing of ANSYS Fluent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.
- Apply advanced engineering and software skills to assess how well the product meets customer needs for functionality and usability and ensure that product requirements and quality standards are met.
- Work closely with other members of the product creation team and communicate with technical specialists on product issues.
- Specific job duties of this position include the following: specify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scripts;
- perform functional, application, regression and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments;
- create test plans and contribute to testing initiatives, and hold responsibility for coverage analysis and testing metrics in specific areas, and participate in defect management;
- apply technical and professional knowledge of ANSYS Fluent in specialized areas and investigate complex product issues and problems;
- analyze product requirements and develop tests for new features;
- Work in a variety of computing environments, including but not limited to Windows, Linux, and high performance computing;
- take full responsibility for managing testing activities for one or more specific ANSYS Fluent project areas;
- perform industrial-level testing using complex, real world cases provided by ANSYS Fluent customers and conduct validation testing; and
- mentor less experienced testing staff members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field of study, and three (3) years of experience in a related position.
- Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field of study, and five (5) years of experience in a related position.
- Work experience or academic coursework must have included:
- development of solid advanced computing skills, including: use of scientific programming and scripting languages (including C/C++, Python, Linux shell scripting and Windows batch scripting) proficiency with both Linux and Windows operating systems (including both GUI and command line functions) and utilization of high-performance computing in both Linux and Windows environments;
- comprehensive study of fluid dynamics, heat/mass transfer and related fluid flow phenomena;
- working knowledge of the numerical methods, schemes and algorithms typically used in commercial CFD codes, including techniques used to model turbulence and other complex physical phenomena in conjunction with CFD, and functional understanding of commonly used terminology including discretization, initialization, iteration, and under-relaxation;
- proficiency in using ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS geometry/meshing products, including problem setup, execution and post-processing through the graphical and text interfaces, as well as journaling, scripting and customization;
- demonstrated experience with applying ANSYS Fluent in a commercial environment including applying the software to commercially meaningful engineering applications and analyzing simulation results for engineering relevance; and expertise in issues relevant to customer experience with CFD software, including usability, repeatability, performance, licensing, accuracy;
- extensive commercial experience testing general purpose CFD software including regression testing and functional testing in both manual and automated test environments;
- experience using software development and testing tools commonly deployed in commercial environments including Git for software test version control, Jenkins or AzureDevOps for software test automation and AzureDevOps for testing project and task management.
