SUMMARY

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. 

 

The position involves developing, implementing, and maintaining functionality related to the Ansys CFD solver’s core numerics and boundary conditions. Areas of work for this position may include high-order finite volume algorithms, time-marching schemes, solution acceleration techniques, adaption analytics, error estimation, and numerics related to multiscale flows and moving deforming meshes.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of software modules and sub-systems in the area of solver-meshing
  • Participates in planning and research
  • Investigates problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Performs complex bug verification and release testing
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS
  • Demonstrated experience with design and development of CFD software
  • Hands on experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver development, verification, and validation
  • Excellent technical knowledge and proficiency in C/C++ programming, numerical analysis, scripting languages, source code versioning, data structures and algorithms

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in Engineering or related field is a strong plus
  • Passion for crafting robust, innovative, and efficient code
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
  • Knowledge and familiarity with SIMPLE class of methods
  • Knowledge of numerics on overset meshes and/or fluid-structure interactions (FSI)
  • Knowledge and exposure to solvers involving multi-physics (Porous Media, Multiphase flows, Flows with combustion and reactions etc.)
  • Experience with parallel and high-performance computing
