Summary / Role Purpose

The Ansys Federal, Aerospace, and Defense (FA&D) team supports national security and readiness by accelerating the digital transformation towards simulation, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and mission engineering. We are looking for a passionate Business Development Executive committed to driving simulation and innovation across the aerospace and defense ecosystem.

 

The ideal candidate is a triple threat, combining market area experience with technical and business acumen and is energized to apply innovative solutions to complex problems and support critically important missions.

 

This position is open to any work location within the US.

  

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and assist in the capture of high-value opportunities in the national security market.
  • Contribute to the prioritization of new business pursuits, provide guidance and support to grow/accelerate the sales pipeline and drive the marketing and product alignment activities.  
  • Manage and retain strategic relationships with key stakeholders and thought leaders in the market. 
  • Assist customers in meeting their requirements and capability gaps with products and technologies available or being developed by Ansys.  
  • Serve as a senior selling mentor and market area expert supporting overall FA&D objectives.  
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, marketing, and partners to deliver the excellent customer experience of Ansys.
  • Coordinate with engineering and sales personnel in preparing, editing, presenting briefings, and facilitating discussions with customers and partners.
  • Research business opportunities and viable income streams for white space expansion. 
  • Follow and report on industry trends.
  • Represent Ansys at trade shows, industry days, conferences, and industry association events.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Science or other related field with a minimum of 4+ years of experience in sales or business development or related field OR 8+ years of experience in sales or business development or related field.
  • A team player with demonstrated capabilities and skills for building trust, accountability and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated development, implementation, and management of processes and strategies for new business capture that results in competitive capture and an improved win rate. 
  • High emotional intelligence with a successful track record of building and maintaining strong relationships ranging from senior level executives to technical users. 
  • Knowledge of government contracting methodologies and current acquisition trends and customer funding cycles.  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers.  
  • Ability to plan, navigate, and negotiate a sophisticated sale process.   
  • Ability to put team success as a first priority.  
  • Ability to gain a U.S. security clearance and properly employ information handling procedures.
  • Travel: Average of 50%

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced Degree in Business or Technical Discipline.  
  • 15 years of relevant Business Development and/or customer mission experience.  
  • Cross team & people management skills.
  • Experience leading opportunity captures, including developing overall win strategy; shaping deals with customers; developing teaming strategies, identifying, and closing with teammates; understanding pricing and assist in developing winning price   
  • Conflict resolution. 
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense market.
  • A current U.S. national security clearance.
