Summary
In this role, the Application Management Engineer will join the Ansys IT department’s Application Management Team and will be responsible for the lifecycle management of critical business applications that support our operations. The individual will work with stakeholders to gather and configure requirements, implement updates, troubleshoot issues, and ensure applications remain secure, compliant, and functional. The role involves close collaboration with the Systems/DevOps Team to deploy and maintain applications, as well as with other IT teams to support overall service delivery.
The Application Management Team oversees a diverse portfolio of applications, including Cyberark, Sailpoint, Biscom SFT (Secure File Transfer), DUO, Tenable Security Center, WSUS / PatchMyPC, Tanium, ServiceNow, JIRA, GitHub, Grafana, JAMS / SNAPlogic, Microsoft Certificate Authority, and the Ansys Application Suite (Minerva, Fluent, Mechanical, STk, OTDK, and more). The delivery of application services should be supported by automation where applicable to increase efficiency and consistency. The individual is expected to operate at a professional level, clearly communicate challenges and opportunities, and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic IT environment.
This position is based in Exton, PA and it is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of business applications, including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, implement application updates, and introduce new features to meet organizational needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, coordinating with vendors and the Systems/DevOps Team for deployment and infrastructure support (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA, GitHub).
- Ensure application security and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CMMC) using tools like Cyberark, Sailpoint, DUO, Tenable Security Center, and Microsoft Certificate Authority.
- Manage application patching and updates using tools like WSUS / PatchMyPC and Tanium, ensuring compatibility and stability.
- Integrate applications with automation and monitoring tools such as JAMS / SNAPlogic and Grafana to streamline workflows and monitor performance.
- Support secure file transfer operations using Biscom SFT, ensuring data integrity and compliance with security protocols.
- Provide training and support to end-users on application usage.
- Document application configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps to ensure repeatability and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Automate repetitive tasks through scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to improve efficiency in application management.
- Participate in IT projects, such as new application rollouts or system migrations, working with the Project Manager to ensure successful delivery.
- Work closely with the IT Operations team to coordinate support, align processes, and ensure consistent service delivery across the application environment.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3+ years of experience in application management, systems administration, or a related IT role.
- Proven experience managing enterprise applications such as ServiceNow, JIRA, GitHub, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with security and identity management tools like Cyberark, Sailpoint, DUO, or Microsoft Certificate Authority.
- Experience with patch management systems (e.g., WSUS / PatchMyPC) and endpoint management tools (e.g., Tanium).
- Knowledge of vulnerability management tools like Tenable Security Center.
- Ability to write and maintain scripts for automation (PowerShell or Python preferred).
- Full understanding of the application stack for troubleshooting (e.g., application integration, infrastructure dependencies, user access).
- Ability to document work performed for cross-team collaboration and repeatability.
- Strong communication skills to present challenges, opportunities, and project plans to stakeholders.
- Ability to execute projects based on defined requirements and timelines.
- Motivated, energetic, and positive team player.
- Able to work independently and own tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
- Active TS/SCI Security clearance (or the ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance).
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Experience managing or supporting the Ansys Application Suite (Minerva, Fluent, Mechanical, STk, OTDK, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration with on-premises applications.
- Experience with automation platforms like JAMS / SNAPlogic and monitoring tools like Grafana.
- Knowledge of secure file transfer protocols and tools (e.g., Biscom SFT).
- Experience working in an Agile environment, using tools like JIRA for project tracking and GitHub for version control.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL Foundation or vendor-specific certifications for Cyberark, Sailpoint, or ServiceNow.
