Based out of the Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) headquarters office in Exton, PA office or  a home office in Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia, the Field Application Engineer is responsible for helping the AGI mid-Atlantic sales region achieve their team goals.  An Application Engineer (AE) becomes an expert in applying Digital Mission Engineering software (STK and ODTK) for addressing some of the most challenging aerospace and defense problems. The AE operates as part a dynamic team of engineers, software developers and business professionals who assist customers in performing analyses, solving problems, and integrating and deploying custom software solutions.

 

Currently, AGI is searching for experienced candidates with a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the aerospace and defense community and who have the technical and interpersonal skills required to do so in our fast-paced work environment.   

 

 Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in partnership with the sales teams to strategize and execute sales approaches to maximize sales objectives for the mid-Atlantic 
  • Ensure successful presentation, demonstration, and training of AGI products to clients
  • Provide technical leadership on company product offerings and guidance on increasing sales opportunities
  • Developing product expertise in the STK family of products
  • Providing technical assistance, best-practice education and problem-solving support for a wide range of technically challenging aerospace and defense applications
  • Working on-site with customers to implement software best practices and address real-world problems
  • Presenting/documenting analysis results
  • Programming user interfaces, automation scripts and integration code in support of customer applications
  • Delivering product training and sharing sales opportunities with the appropriate account managers
  • Formulating strategies for technical solutions

 

Ideal candidates meet or exceed the following qualifications:

  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Communication and collaboration skills necessary to work with other departments, especially sales, marketing, business development, and product development.
  • Demonstrated ability in technical problem solving is mandatory
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Working knowledge or experience with STK and ODTK is desirable
  • Scripting Experience in MATLAB, Python or other scripting languages
  • Programming experience in C, C++, C#, or Java
  • Demonstrated ability preparing and delivering various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Master’s degree in engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years spent in Colorado, supporting regional customers
  • 2+ years’ prior work experience in the aerospace industry is desirable
  • TS/SCI Clearances are highly desirable (or the ability and willingness to obtain them)
