Summary / Role Purpose

Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team and partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead, solve their real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys’ business. As a hands-on expert in Ansys products, you will use advanced-level engineering knowledge to support our customers in the development of Optical and Photonics devices and products. You will work with customers in different industries like Automotive, A&D, Medical and many other. In this role you will provide technical pre-sales support, perform professional services, and help translate customer requirements into exciting new product features. You will be working within multi-disciplinary teams to advance your knowledge, experience, and business impact.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply engineering expertise and knowledge of Ansys’ Optics and Photonics techniques to provide the highest level of technical support to customers, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
  • Take ownership of the customers problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive Optics and Photonics solutions. Contribute to technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows.
  • Provide introductory training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which may include collaborative work with other application engineers in the same or different disciplines.
  • Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities. Test new releases on industrial problems.
  • Participate in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, both within and outside the discipline.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on Optics, Photonics, Fibers, Lasers, or related fields.
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: BS+0.
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; possesses a sense of urgency. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects across geographically diverse locations. 
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
  • Basic knowledge in programing languages such as Python, C# or similar.
  • Problem-solving attitude - Ability to think abstract and identify solutions from customer requirements using the full Ansys Optical portfolio.
  • Basic understanding of simulation processes and tools (Zemax OpticStudio, Speos, Lumerical, Code V, LucidShape etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering environment: MS+0
  • Experience in programing languages such as Python, C# or similar.
  • Experience in commercial CAE, CAD, EDA (NX, Creo, Catia, SW, etc.) software packages and their use in Industry.
  • Experience in Lightting, Optics or Photonics simulation processes and tools (Zemax OpticStudio, Speos, Lumerical, Code V, LucidShape etc.)
  • Experience in image processing
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time.
  • Fluent in English, plus at least one more European language.
