SUMMARY

 

Join the Ansys Student Internship Program to apply your education to solve real world engineering problems, advance career skills and experience work at Ansys. The student intern will be part of the Ansys Mechanical Core Development team and will work together with the team to develop advanced engineering features in the Mechanical flagship product. The intern will get an opportunity to experience how software development is done to solve engineering problems in an intuitive and integrated Mechanical environment and will contribute to advanced engineering features like fracture mechanics, linear dynamics, coupled field analysis, etc. The intern will also get to experience how software design principles apply in an engineering discipline to simulate physics for next generation products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develop new features using object oriented programming language in state-of-the-art Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software application based on the Finite Element Method (FEA)
  • Work alongside software developers during the design, implementation and verification process. 
  • Investigate defects in production code. Develop unit tests for the developed features.
  • Analyze results and improve the usability of the software.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Computer science or related technical major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to university after the completion of the co-op program
  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of C++ and object-oriented programming
  • Deep understanding of programming concepts related to threading, memory lifetime and ownership, and space and speed complexity of code.
  • Sharp and tenacious problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication Team player, responsible, and motivated
  • Experience debugging code with an IDE such as Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, pyCharm, or similar.


PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Knowledge of FEA or similar computational techniques
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and development tools such as gdb and gcc.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Visual Studio and software configuration management tools (e.g. GIT)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies (.NET Framework, COM, ATL) and agile software development practices
