The Senior Director ACE Operations will have primary responsibility for building out and leading the global operations team that will drive strategy, planning, and business management support to Ansys Customer Excellence leadership.  This will include responsibility for supporting the efficient functioning of the business critical ACE Technical Operations team that manages tech support requests and resource utilization for ACE’s nearly 1400 team members.  The Senior Director ACE Operations will closely partner with ACE and sales leadership to support strategic initiatives such as the development of the Services organization, ROI analytics, resource planning and allocation, as well as metric definition and reporting.

An effective leader will collaborate closely with the ACE team, sales leadership, product leadership, finance, and the broader operations community to align on priorities and ensure cross-functional coordination.


  • Manage the global Technical Operations team and ensure professional and efficient operational support for the ACE team.
  • Define and build out the core components for a well-functioning ACE operations team that complements Technical Operations and that will provide strategic and management support to ACE leadership.
  • Work closely with the Head of GTM Operations and Head of Ansys Customer Excellence to develop and execute ACE strategic plans, projects, and commitments to drive operational efficiency and effective collaboration across ACE.
  • Be responsible for business process optimization in ACE, continue to improve processes for monitoring, tracking, and executing ACE’s core presales, service, and tech support missions.
  • Work proactively with stakeholders from ACE, Sales, Product, Finance, and Operations to define strategic priorities for the ACE team and drive those priorities to execution.
  • Drive the annual planning process in coordination with Sales Operations and FP&A to ensure efficient allocation of resources against the highest priority/highest return areas of the business, and manage ongoing resource allocation and investment against that plan.
  • Identify and establish metrics for defining ACE operational and strategic performance, and create regular reports to track achievement against those metrics.
  • Drive ongoing process improvements to the tech support process, including opportunities to automate functions where appropriate.
  • Support implementation of new time management system for ACE resources, partnering with IT and HR/Legal to ensure both technical and risk management concerns are fully addressed
  • Support ACE leadership on ad hoc projects and analytics, bringing insight to support decision-making and rigor to the development and execution of implementation plans for ACE initiatives.
  • Lead ACE Operations initiatives to develop innovative processes and technologies to advance operations and reduce operating costs.
  • Represent ACE on cross-functional teams driving broader company initiatives.
  • Develop strategies to automate and standardize reporting solutions or business intelligence tools across teams. Generate and maintain detailed documentation of policies and processes.
  • Assign and track ACE resources supporting transformational project/initiatives versus supporting ACE’s ongoing operational responsibilities to maintain transparency to GTM Leadership.
  • Support GTM Leadership in the planning and preparation of forecast and pipeline review meetings.


  • Education & Years of Experience: Bachelor’s degree required along with 10+ years of experience in the software/technology industry; experience in sales operations or related field preferred.
  • 5 + years of direct management experience, including experience working across a highly matrixed organization with global presence.
  • Proven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change, as well as delivering results on complex business priorities.
  • Ability to successfully manage distributed team through a combination of in-person and virtual interactions.
  • Demonstrated strength in people leadership and development, with focus on building diverse, high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution (someone who gets things done).
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated history of effective cross-functional collaboration.


  • Operational experience in technical sales organization.
  • Direct exposure to simulation technology and understanding of the technical support requirements of an effective simulation business. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of the simulation industry.
