Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II in the Discovery Features Team contributes to the development for the pre-processing UI and application framework for Discovery. The role entails being a part of a collaborative team reaching out to multiple technology teams to expose the diverse application logic, algorithms, and controls available in Ansys products. The goal of the team is to provide a user friendly experience that is scalable and feature rich for the Discovery application.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
  • Use of C# and C++ programming languages, Windows Forms, WPF, and related software development technologies on Windows
  • Understands and employs best practices
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, physics, computer science, or engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in production software environments
  • Working experience in UI design and implementation using Windows Forms, WPF, or other UI framework.
  • Solid analytic and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical knowledge and experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Experience with Geometry Modeling and/or Meshing Applications
  • 3D Computer Graphics, especially DirectX or OpenGL
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment with a source code control system such as GIT, SVN or TFS is a plus
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team environment with an appreciation of aggressive goals
