The R&D Engineer II is responsible for the development of ANSYS flagship software products and supporting systems. In this role, you will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team to accomplish development objectives for the new generation of simulation system in modern software engineering practice.



  • Participates in planning, architecture, research, and implementation in modularized mechanical simulation component system and cloud applications
  • Works on asynchronous event driven microservices for massive and efficient data passing/manipulation among software components, which are used for simulation controller, model exchanger and adaptor
  • Develops system and services to support co-simulation in both sequential and concurrent mutual data communication in local and distributed systems
  • Works on file storage reduction and workflow and process automation
  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design and implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace or Computer Engineering or a related field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a related position, or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace or Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field of study such as finite element simulation
  • Design and implementation of program using C++/Boost, Python and modern software engineering practice



  • Master’s degree in engineering with two (2) years’ experience or Ph.D. with no experience
  • Technical knowledge and commercial experience with data interchange and file storage through RPC frameworks and APIs and Protobuf/FlatBuffers serialization and deserialization
  • Background with data structures and algorithms, HPC, Multithread/mutliprocess, operating system and file system
  • Experience in software development of numerical simulation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
