Summary and Role Purpose

 

The Marketing Operations Manager will play a crucial role in optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of our marketing efforts. This position will focus on three key areas: budget management, resource planning, and the orchestration of our marketing plans on both an annual and quarterly basis with an emphasis on process improvement. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing financial resources, strategically allocating marketing assets, and ensuring the foundational resource & budget elements to allow for seamless execution of marketing initiatives. By aligning resources and processes with our business objectives, the Marketing Operations Manager will help drive Ansys growth and success.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities  
 

Budget Management:

  • Manage and monitor all aspects of the global marketing budget which includes program spend, travel & expense, professional development, etc. to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources across multiple teams.
  • Establish guidelines for teams and an audit cadence of our budget management tool to ensure accuracy of our budget.
  • Track and report on budget performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate globally with finance and senior leadership to forecast and plan budgetary needs.
  • Act as the primary contact and cultivate the relationships between the marketing organization and internal stakeholders like finance, accounting, and procurement.  
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

 

Resource Planning:

  • Assess and allocate resources (human, financial, and technological) to support marketing initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive resource planning framework to optimize the use of marketing assets.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective deployment of resources.
  • Identify gaps in resources and propose solutions to address them.

 

Plan Orchestration:

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing templates to be used across teams so they have a detailed view but can be rolled up for an overarching view.  
  • Ensure alignment of marketing activities with overall business objectives and timelines.
  • Work alongside the rest of the operations team to cascade the plan into other areas of the organization like the marketing activity calendar and tags.
  • Monitor the resource & budget implications of marketing campaign progression relative to annual and quarterly plan and work with the team to mitigate complications.

 

Process Optimization:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of budget management, resource planning and plan orchestration.
  • Document how-to guides and best practices to help train the organization.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in marketing operations, with a focus on budget management, resource planning, and plan orchestration.
  • Global experience with a deep understanding of variances that can happen country-by-country
  • Strong “pulse” of external Marketing Operations landscape such as trends, best practices, KPI benchmarks, go-to-market models, and productivity levers
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills while being able to communicate information in a way that is digestible for that specific audience across finance, accounting, marketing and procurement/purchasing.
  • Deep experience with Excel, Smartsheet, and/or budget management tool.
  • Experience interacting with and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial management.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task and to work in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
