The Market Strategy Manager supports Ansys’s global strategic planning and execution efforts by studying Ansys market opportunities and competitive landscape. The role should be able to collaborate with many stakeholders, including the strategy group, corporate development/M&A, product management, sales & ACE, marketing, service, product development/ engineering, and other Ansys groups, and provide timely, actionable, and high-quality market, product, vertical/industry, geographic, channel and competitive insights, coordinate action plans, follow-up on the important milestones. Through this synthesis and analysis, this role helps internal business partners and stakeholders shape and form the best strategic response plans, and tactics to maintain and expand Ansys market leadership position.


This is a critical role as part of the Corporate Strategy team that acts as a company-wide resource for understanding the industry, addressable markets, technology, competitive and macroeconomic environment. This role needs to have skills in business analytics, marketing analytics, and specific skills to perform scenario analysis based on potential triggers in the market. The person must have an ability to develop frameworks and solve problems across a variety of areas, each of which will have a significant impact on the long-term success of Ansys.



  • Working closely with the business through cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives including new revenue streams, mergers and alliances, sustainability, and other relevant long-term business transformation initiatives
  • Develop and maintain department’s research and analytical methodologies and apply these to ongoing projects
  • Identify potential sources and gather, validate, and analyze information and perspectives from both internal and external sources
  • Synthesize research findings into concise PowerPoint slides with charts; creating own perspectives to communicate insightful, executive-level analysis with clear messages and a fact-based point of view
  • Act as project manager, coordinating projects involving cross-functional teams also schedule meetings and manage the project timeline, deliverables and deadlines as needed
  • Capture market and competitive information and builds complex analytical models and synthesize findings
  • Scope requests and project work streams, develops hypothesis, and creates the analysis plan and own and drive significant portions of larger projects
  • Using customer data in parallel with analytics to improve the core understanding of customer behaviors and trends which may inform strategic decision making
  • Identify, attend, participate in, summarize, and internally share key learnings summaries of appropriate industry conferences and webcasts                                                       
  • Write summary that strips out sales and marketing messages to distill the key learnings and takeaways, new market insights, and implications and “so-what’s” for Ansys
  • Constantly keeps a “pulse on the market” through industry reading (e.g., articles, reports, company earnings reports and presentations)



  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in top-tier strategic consulting firms or 6 to 10 years of experience in market research/intelligence or in services industry
  • Proven strategy experience gained in a top tier strategy consulting firm or through significant ownership of in-house strategy work, working with transformational B2B businesses
  • Experience working on large strategic initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research/analysis, building business and implementation plans and driving execution through to success; ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
  • Ability to digest and synthesize large amounts of information quickly
  • Strong issue identification, problem structuring, analytical skills (oral, written)
  • Ability to establish and build trust-based working relationships with key internal customers. Reputation for delivering high-quality, error-free results
  • Strong strategic problem-solving, analytical, quantitative, and operational skills, combined with best-in-class execution and delivery
  • A passion for developing practical pragmatic solutions to complex cutting edge business problems with a blend of strong commercial, conceptual, and creative thinking
  • Demonstrated experience of independent workstream management including owning end to end project and process management and managing cross functional stakeholder relationships at a range of levels
  • Experience developing content for and presenting to senior stakeholders, up to Director or Exec level
  • Ability to inspire and coach project teams with diverse experience to deliver results
  • Exceptional commercial awareness and judgement, with the ability to quickly develop and evolve thought processes in a fast paced and changing market



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive or Electrical/Electronic discipline) preferred
  • Awareness, knowledge, or experience in Engineering/PLM/CAD/CAE software industry
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication
  • Professional attitude and service orientation
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
