The goal of the Ansys Emerging Talent program is to provide experiential learning, structured job experiences, and a platform to help talented students launch their career with Ansys. The Emerging Talent program will allow students the opportunity to refine technical knowledge, enhance personal talents, and encourage collaboration and networking in our areas of focus with the ultimate goal of converting our Emerging Talent interns into full-time Ansys employees at the completion of the program. Entry into the Emerging Talent Program is through a paid 40-hour per week internship, for 14-16 weeks per rotation, and requires a 1-2 rotation commitment from a student beginning in Fall 2021.


As an Emerging Talent Intern, you will be provided with continuous role-based skills training and development as well as formal assessment and evaluations. You will have a dedicated mentor and receive regular coaching. You will also participate in University Relations activities (networking) and learning series opportunities.


The Emerging Talent Intern will be part of the Ansys Mechanical testing team and will work together with the team to develop advanced engineering features in Mechanical flagship product. The Intern will get an opportunity to experience how software development is done to solve engineering problems in an intuitive and integrated Mechanical environment and will contribute to advance engineering features like fracture mechanics, linear dynamics, coupled field analysis etc. The intern will also get to experience of how software design principles apply in an engineering discipline to simulate physics for next generation products.



  • Plans and executes software product testing and verification activities according to the company's overall development and testing processes
  • Verify and validate new features in Ansys Mechanical APDL product
  • Develop new applications of existing features and/or identify software or feature limitations.
  • Determine best practices when applying simulation software to solve challenging industrial problems.
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Work alongside software developers during the design, implementation, and verification process.
  • Develop prototypes or test new solution strategies or algorithms.
  • Investigate defects in production code.
  • Develop unit and regression tests.
  • Analyze results and communicate findings using visualization software.



  • Pursuing an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to university after the completion of the internship program.
  • Experience and/or academic exposure with FEA and CAE tools with knowledge of FE methods
  • Strong knowledge of structural and computational mechanics
  • Proficient in one or more programming or scripting languages: Python, C++, C#, Jscript, Perl
  • A thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to details and quality; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with Development, Testing, and Support staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Able to troubleshoot by simplifying complex systems, debugging, and finding root causes



  • Ansys Software experience, including Ansys Mechanical APDL
  • Experience with Linux and Windows 
  • Additional knowledge of structural dynamics and numerical methods is desired
  • Strong programming skills are highly desirable
  • Sharp and tenacious problem-solving skills
  • A thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to details and quality
