Research & Development of Weather phenomena in Autonomous Vehicle Simulation

Summary / Role Purpose

Ansys is seeking a software engineer intern to join our Solvers team, based in Sophia Antipolis. Our product performs a wide range of roles, such as visualizing simulations, displaying massive datasets, rendering physics-correct frame/images, simulating physics-correct sensors (Camera, Lidar, Radar), etc. We are currently transitioning from OpenGL to Vulkan to take advantage of its power and allow us to integrate new complex features of the world such as lighting systems, the sky, and different weather conditions phenomena. This includes all sorts of conditions including fog, water splashes, wet roads, rain, etc...  As an intern, he/she will be working on challenging and advanced technology subjects and will also actively contribute to the transition to Vulkan.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Today our engine, based on Vulkan, can render large, scaled environments with a lot of geometries and lights. It’s capable of rendering various features from the environment such as reflection, transparency, headlamp, and weather conditions. In the context of the weather conditions, we would like to enrich the weather phenomena with the splashing of water from the preceded car to our camera lenses.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

You are validating a Master 2 of software engineering or equivalent graduation certificate with high interest in image processing and rendering simulation.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Language: C#/C++, OpenGL (and/or Vulkan)
Skills: Math and image signal processing
